Pastel Shadow

This photo was taken at around 6 pm, when the sun was still shining and it was still warm out. I can feel summer creeping around the corner folks.

Look - HM
Shoes - Adidas Torsion Allegra

Unfortunately I succumbed to the form fitting call of my old HM pieces. Fast fashion is still prevalent in my day to day life, as much as I try to stop it. I am being incredibly dramatic, but it gets the point across.

My Handy Work

Happi Coat - Thrift
Shirt - My Design
Pants - HM
Socks - American Apparel
Shoes - Adidas Originals

That is me, standing in the same spot as last thursday. However, you may notice that this time I am drenched in the ubiquitous rain that forever drowns us here on the west coast. Something else that has changed in this photo is my outfit, and what I want to spotlight is my shirt Im wearing. I use the term 'shirt' lightly, because it is really only half a shirt. What makes this shirt somewhat interesting are the enlarged french cuffs, and the seam in the front that was achieved by using the transformative reconstruction technique.

Easter Attire

Jacket - HM
Shirt - HM
Pants - Maison Martin Margiela x HM
Hat - My Mother's Closet
Shoes - Cole Haan
Sunglasses - Ray Ban

First things first, I am kind of obsessed with this jacket right now. Its one of those pieces that you buy, wear once, then find it a year later and never take it off. In my opinion its the perfect mix of Amish, Celiné Pre Fall 13 & Thom Browne.

Now second things second, I am disgusted with the amount of H&M I wear from a day to day basis. The fact that I am trying to boycott fast fashion, while simultaneously wearing it, is emblematic of hypocritical tendencies. In my defence I haven't shopped fast fashion since the Margiela x HM drop. But Maison Martin Margiela doesnt run cheap, and my thirst for something new is rising, and I am scared I may succumb to the new spring wears popping up at a mall near you.

Now Third things third, its saturday and its sunny. And the fact that I am sitting behind a computer screen clacking away is pitiful. So with that I bid you all a happy day, and a happier Easter.

Rulers Are SO Last Season

Jacket - HM
Pants - Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals
Shoes - Maison Martin Margiela x HM
Sunglasses - Burberry

I can tell its definitely the end of term when I realize the excessive amount of hours I spend at school start to rub off on my sartorial choices. Fortunately I wore these to pattern drafting class today, where I managed to forget my ruler. Luckily I was wearing these pants, yes it involved a lot of awkward leg bending on the table. But the outcome was swell, and at least now I know that I do have a potential career of being a gymnast.

Totem Pole Society

A rare occurrence of sun in March graced us all here in Vancouver. So me and my beautiful friend ( of www.reallyliteral.blogspot.com ) decided to shoot in Stanely Park to celebrate the acquisition of her new Jeremy Scott jacket.

My outfit today really had no inspiration, I kind of felt like Kris Van Assche S/S 13 and a bit Pelayo Diaz though.

Dressed Comfortable Like a Scuba Diver

For those of you who are confused, the title is pertaining to the fact that my blazer is made of neoprene. I would have liked to show what the blazer looked like on. However, subsequent to a 12 hour sewing day, my clothes only managed to fly off my body and onto my bed. Instead of allotting me time to snap an outfit photo.

Pants - HM
Shoes - Adidas

2For1 Deal

You know that awesome feeling when you go to a vending machine and when you only pay for one candy bar two come out instead? Well thats how this should feel like, I am giving the gift of double outfit posts.
HA. Ya, right.

The reality of this post is just that I neglected to take make a post yesterday, I think it was the tuesday haze that struck me. Never heard of the 'tuesday haze' before? Well neither have I, but Im just going to coin that term right now. And if anyone asks you where you heard that term, it was from me of course.

In my attempt to expedite my posting, I decided to combine yesterdays and todays outfits into one post.

For the look on the left I tried to channel Saint Laurent S/S13 and Balmain Homme, instead I spent the day getting asked if I knew who Boy George was. That wasn't the outcome I was hoping for, and honestly I wasn't familiar with Boy George. And when I finally did google him, I was pleased that I am being compared to an 80's songstress. How great.

Hat - Belonging to my Mother - No Label
Jacket - Vintage from Paris
Shirt - MHI
Pants - HM
Shoes - Comme Des Garcons x Converse

For the look on the right, well I didn't exactly have an insporation for this outfit. It sort of just fell together quickly. The pants I made though, they have a large inverted dart down the front. But since these pants are a proto of my final, they are unfinished, thus the fraying at the hem.

Shirt - Thrift
Pants - ME
Shoes - New Balance
Watch - Belonging to my Mother - Gucci

Okay, I don't think the tuesday haze has faded off. Moving onto wednesday haze, #trademark.

Rebelling Against Arbitrary Fashion Rules.

Who ever mandated that society shall not wear linen and sport tops together is obviously a fool. This fine monday I woke up with an air of rebellion about me and decided to put this outlawed combination together, and then carried on with my day.

Top - Thrift
Pants - HM
Shoes - Vans

Please disregard my uninhabited wrist, I woke up 50 minutes past my scheduled alarm and forgot to put a wrist watch on. I am trying my best to conceal this unsightly accident, but I suppose putting my fists in my pockets isn't a very effective tactic.

Enjoy the rest of your monday nights, and please look out your windows and acknowledge the fact that it is still light out at 6:30pm.

Outfit of Yesterday

This was yesterdays outfit, its definitely one of those looks that your confused as to why you decided to put those pieces together. Once its all on, you like the look but then you don't. Its one of those I suppose.

Shirt - Juicy Couture (mens I swear)
Chain - Vintage Givenchy Costume Jewelry
Pants - Disgusting H&M Ones
Shoes - Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals

Im kind of into this picture, it looks like my shoes just decided to start flying and that the rest of my body is surprised. Im kind of the next Annie Leibovitz, no big deal or anything. And about my shews, so like at the beginning of December I blogged about them. And I thought that only China was getting them, but look at ME now! Canada got a limited supply, and I got a pair. Can I get a hell yeah.

Trailer Trash Tuxedo

Today feeling extra classy, I decided to whip out my most luxurious thrift store beer sweater. I walked around feeling like a million bucks, and the condescending stares from on looking old people was the certification I needed for choosing such a tasteful look. I deemed this sweater a 'trailer trash tuxedo' because of the small town I purchased it in, and also because the fine gentlemen to my left wore this exact sweater to the hitching post. Now I do not believe everyone who lives in a trailer is trash, in fact I believe all trailer park residents are simply trailer park residents until they have earned such a title.

Sweater - Thrif
Shirt - Thrift
Pants - H&M
Boots - Dr Martens

Such fine labels for such a fine outfit. To bad I didn't take a picture of my jean jacket I had on today, that was really the icing on the cake. But everything aside, I don't think I look that bad? The boots are one of my favourite pairs of Dr. Marten's I own, I refer to them as my dinosaur boots. Mainly because they are chunky and green, and the bottom eyelets look like dinosaur eyes.

Can we just take a moment for the wonderful photo I posted. Unfortunately I have not yet figured out how to use photoshop yet. But slowly Im learning, hopefully by the end of 2013 I will  have learnt how to properly crop me into a trailer park.

On the topic of what I did today, at first I started of with school yada yada yada. However after school me and my class mates decided to go see an incredible film on Diana Vreeland. The film was called 'The Eye Has To Travel', and it was truly truly incredible. It showed her entire life, she was such a marvelous woman. She grew up in Paris, danced in the 20's, essentially created the youth quake movement and was above all just a remarkable woman. Watching that film makes me want to go to my school and dig through the 60's Vogues we have stashed.

I hope you all have an incredible weekend

One Size Definitely Does Not Fit All

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, wait... it's just me in the world's most gigantic shirt ever.

I absolutely love how huge this shirt is though, I think its equivalent to a XXXL. And lets just say I am definitely more of the small size variety. Needless to say I am wearing this shirt today because I woke up 25 minutes before class starts, and I live 35 minutes away. That also explains why I am wearing the same shoes I wore on wednesday, morning brain neglected to remind me of that. So I walked around all day feeling like the girl who wears pyjamas to school, utterly disgusting. And it probably goes without saying, but the hat on my head is covering disgusting bed head. I look like Giorgio Tsoukalos from Ancient Aliens, and if you don't know who that is I definitely suggest looking him up to fully understand my reference.

Shirt - Adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott
Hat - Supreme
Pants - H&M
Socks - American Apparel
Shoes - Dr. Martens

Hopefully I will have managed to wake up on time tomorrow so I can present something a little more interesting. I am going to go nap ya'll.

Me Teaching @ Scool.

Today the teacher came up to me and said, "Spencer, you know what? You, you can teach the class today." So obviously I said yes, and so I took over and taught a riveting lesson on Astroseismology and weaving daisies into head bands.

Regarding what I wore today, yesterday night I had a sudden urge to wear my blush pink pants. So thats what I did today ladies and gentlemen.

Linen Pants - H&M
Shirt - Made by me
Necklace -  Borrowed from my mother
Watch - Emporio Armani
Shoes - Dr. Martens

Today I finished school for the weekend, and to be completely honest the weekend couldn't have come soon enough. I fully intend on watching trash television, eating mug cake and seeing my friends all weekend long. And maybe, just maybe slip in some work on my projects.

Regal Wear

can we just take a moment for me pretending this is a magazine spread and writing in the corner.

I bet when you read the title you expected something completely different. Either me clad in a tail coat and cane or possibly a floor length Ermine coat. But no, no. The title is simply because I thought my vintage naval academy blazer & Dr. Marten's were fancy sounding.

Double Breasted Blazer - Vintage Naval Academy, - My Sister's Wardrobe
Polo - Lacoste
Necklace - I made it
Jeans - H&M
Socks - American Apparel
Shoes - Dr. Martens

I have seriously been loving this blazer lately, it is incredibly soft, warm but most importantly versatile. I have never been one to over wear items, but I have a suspicion that I just might start with this blazer.

I hope you guys are enjoying your Hump Day, hopefully Amy Poehler will treat you to one of her non-alcohalic martini's. (But if you do want some alcohal she will give you a little bit, because she would rather you drink it in the house)

MMM Inspiration

This weekend I purchased my first piece from Maison Martin Margiela, seeing as it was a big purchase the effects of it rubbed off onto my personal style. I tried to channel the house but putting together an ensemble with elements that to me are quintessential Maison Martin Margiela, denim, camel & white.

Denim Jacket - Lee
Camel Double Breasted Blazer - My Sister's Closet
Black Raw Hem Jeans - H&M
Shoes - Hermès
Glasses - Joseph Marc

I absolutely love how the blazer almost looks like a pleated skirt when worn with my denim jacket. The tromp l'oeil effect was completely unintentional and I didn't realize it until I walked out the door this morning.

An easy look for the first day of the week, I will save my ball gown for Friday.

Hope your weeks are off to a great start !

Light Colors +A Tired Face

When scrolling through my previous posts yesterday, I realized I have been wearing a lot of dark colours and over sized pieces lately. For today's look I wanted to do quite the opposite.  Slim fitting pieces in light colours were my outfit aspirations, and plus light colors make me look less pale so its a win win !

I wore a cap that I thrifted a while ago, at first the inside was white and made it look like I constantly had a due rag on under my hat. So I ended up sharpie-ing the inside of the hat, now it just leaves a black ring on my head... My pants are the painted ones from the Margiela x H&M collaboration. My shirt is a basic from H&M and my shoes are Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals FW12.

For me tomorrow is my last day of classes for the week, and running on a very little sleep I couldn't be more excited to finally sleep in, (hopefully).

I will try to retrieve my outfit shots from yesterday, and try to post them on the weekend. However, for now I have pants to sew, for tomorrow morning...
